My story

The Story Behind Eyehouse®

Why I built it

Why I Built Eyehouse

If you have ever felt confused about which eye products to trust, or wondered whether what you are doing is actually helping, you are not alone. That is exactly what Dr Dee kept hearing from patients across 25 years in clinical practice.

People were coming in with dry eyes, tired eyes, blurred vision and discomfort. Many of them had been managing these things for years. And most of them had never been told that simple, everyday choices were making things worse.

The wrong cosmetics slowly blocking the meibomian glands. Blue light from screens disrupting sleep and adding to visual load. Products chosen based on price and packaging rather than clinical evidence.

The pattern was consistent. And the gap was clear. There was no single place where someone could go to get honest, clinically informed guidance and access the products that actually work. No one bringing it all together in a way that was simple enough for a busy parent and trustworthy enough for a clinician.

That is the gap Eyehouse was built to fill. Everything here has been shaped by 25 years in clinic, training Victorian school nurses, speaking at residential care services, being published in MiVision Optometry Magazine, and years of learning about TFOS, EWG, endocrine disruptors and the role that diet and the lymphatic system plays in longevity. All of it distilled into one place, so you do not have to piece it together yourself.

"The right information, the right action, at the right time, can change your future."

The Eyehouse philosophy

Three Words That Guide Everything We Do

🛡️

Prevent

The best time to look after your eyes is before something goes wrong. Not after. Prevention is not dramatic. It is the small, consistent choices that most people never get shown. That is what this is about.

🔒

Protect

Every day your eyes are dealing with light, screens, environment and products that slowly add up. Protection is not about fear. It is about understanding what your eyes are up against and giving them what they need to stay strong.

Preserve

Most people do not think about their eyes until something changes. Preservation is about making sure that change comes as late as possible, and as gently as possible. Everything here is built with that end in mind.

What changed my thinking

The Discoveries That Shaped Eyehouse

🔬

TFOS and EWG - The Safety Standards Nobody Talks About

Most people have never heard of TFOS or EWG. But when I discovered these guidelines for assessing eye and endocrine safety in products, everything changed. I realised that many everyday cosmetics and eye products were slowly causing harm. Not dramatically. But consistently. That is what led to the Eyehouse EFR™ (Eye Friendly Rating) system I use to curate every product on Eyehouse.

💄

What You Put on Your Skin Affects Your Eyes

Endocrine disruptors in cosmetics do not only stay on the surface, they are absorbed. And when some of them reach the tiny glands in your eyelids responsible for tear film quality (meibomian glands), they can begin to slowly compromise your eye health. When was the last time you checked what the ingredients are in your makeup remover, moisturiser, or mascara? This is one of the most underappreciated causes of dry eye and dry flaky skin around the eyelashes I have seen in clinical practice.

🌊

The Lymphatic System and Your Eyes

I learnt from mentors and experienced educators in the field that cell biology and the lymphatic system play a significant role in eye health. When it is sluggish, inflammation builds. When it flows well, the body can do what it is designed to do. This is why tools like lymphatic rollers and red light therapy are part of the Eyehouse range. Not as trends. As clinically informed support.

📱

Screens Are Not the Only Problem - Unmanaged Use Is

After training Victorian school nurses and speaking at schools across the state, one thing became very clear. Devices are here to stay. But the load they place on children's and adults' visual systems is real and cumulative. The answer is not less screen time. It is better habits, better protection, and better support. That is what the Kids Device Program is built on.

What I have learned

It Is Never Just One Thing

Dry eye does not come from one place. Neither does eye strain, or early macular changes, or the slow decline in visual comfort that many people just accept as part of getting older.

What you eat matters. What you put near your eyes matters. How your body is managing inflammation matters. And the small daily habits you build around screen use, sleep, and skincare all add up in ways most people have never been shown.

This is why a single product will rarely solve the problem on its own. What works is a system. One that addresses the real causes rather than just managing the symptoms. That is what you will find at Eyehouse.

"It is not one product that changes things. It is the right combination, applied consistently."

🥗

What you eat

Omega-3s, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory foods directly support tear film quality and macular health.

💄

What you put near your eyes

Cosmetics and skincare ingredients can slowly block the meibomian glands and disrupt your tear film over time.

📱

How you use screens

Blue light exposure, reduced blink rate and prolonged focus all compound into chronic visual fatigue.

🌊

How your body manages inflammation

The lymphatic system and cellular health play a direct role in eye comfort and long-term visual function.

😴

How well you sleep

Melatonin disruption from blue light affects overnight eye recovery and tear production while you rest.
