Ocushield Bamboo sleep mask, your questions answered

Q1. How does a weighted sleep mask help with sleep?

Light is one of the main signals your brain uses to decide whether it is time to wake up or sleep. Blocking it out completely removes that signal.

The weighted element adds gentle pressure across key points around the eye area, which many people find calming. The combination of total darkness and light compression is what makes it different from a basic fabric mask.

Remove the inner bead bag and warm it in the microwave in short bursts, then test it on your inner wrist before placing it back in the mask.

Warm heat over the closed eyes may help the oils in your lid glands flow more freely, which supports the tear film. This is the same principle as a warm compress in dry eye therapy, just more convenient to use at night.

Place the inner bead bag in the freezer, then reattach it to the mask once it is cool.

Cold helps reduce puffiness and inflammation around the eye area. For most dry eye patients I see, the warm option is the more clinically useful one. Cold is better for puffiness and swelling.

Yes, it is suitable for both hand washing and machine washing.

The inner bead bag is detachable, so remove that first before washing the outer mask.

Premium bamboo and satin outer, with 100 percent polyester and silica beads inside.

Bamboo is naturally breathable and hypoallergenic, which is the main reason it was chosen for a product worn against the face overnight.

Yes. The strap is adjustable in length to fit different head sizes, and the design is unisex.

It was developed by optometrists at Ocushield and is endorsed by the Sleep Foundation.

It is also FDA registered, which is the same credential as the Ocushield screen protectors. That matters to me as an optometrist because it means the clinical claims have been reviewed, not just marketed.
