This tool is ideal for those managing Cysts and Styes under the guidance of an eye care professional.
Use the massager once daily with minimal pressure on both the upper and lower lids. Gently roll the spherical head towards the eyelid margin in a smooth, rolling motion. This encourages the hard oils to loosen and dissolve back in to the skin, or it can be expressed by a health professional.
💡 EyeHouse Tip: For best results, always wash your hands before use and apply only gentle pressure. Warm the massager by placing it in hot (not boiling) water for a few minutes before use. Test temperature on your cheek before applying to eyelid.
The heat softens the oils in the glands, making expression more effective. Never heat in a microwave. For best results, use the Blue Gel Bead heat mask for 10 minutes prior to using this massager.
⚠️ Safety Note: This tool is designed for gentle, at-home support and should never cause pain. If you experience increased swelling, redness, or discomfort, stop using immediately and consult your eye care professional. Not suitable for children.
A stye is an acute infection of a gland at the lash line, usually red, painful, and pointing to a head like a pimple. A chalazion is a blocked meibomian gland that has formed a painless, firm cyst further back in the lid.
They look similar but are different. Styes are infectious and often resolve quickly. Chalazia are not infected and can persist for weeks to months without intervention.
Gentle heat followed by massage helps soften the blocked content and encourage the gland to drain, which can resolve a chalazion without medical treatment in many cases.
For styes, heat and gentle pressure can encourage the head to point and drain naturally. Do not squeeze a stye like a skin pimple.
Warm the lid first with a heat mask or warm compress for five to ten minutes. Then use the massager to apply gentle, circular or rolling pressure directly over the stye or cyst.
The pressure should be firm enough to feel but not painful. If it causes significant pain, stop and see your optometrist.
See your optometrist or GP if the stye is severely swollen, involves the whole lid, does not improve after a week of heat and massage, or if you develop a fever.
A chalazion that has not resolved after four to six weeks of daily treatment, or that is affecting vision, should also be assessed.
Wipe with a sterile wipe or damp cloth after every use. Do not share with another person, particularly during an active infection.
