    Q1. What is hypochlorous acid and is it safe around the eyes?

    It is a compound your own immune system already makes. White blood cells produce it as part of how the body deals with bacteria.

    Ophthalmic sprays use a very dilute, high purity solution at a pH close to that of your tears. That is what makes it gentle enough for daily use on the lid margin.

    Wash your hands. Close your eyes and spray directly onto the closed lids and lashes, then let it air dry.

    If you prefer more control, spray onto a clean cotton pad and wipe along the lash line. Either way, no rinsing.

    Most people do well with one or the other rather than both. Wipes give you physical removal of crust and debris. The spray gives you coverage without rubbing.

    If your lids are sore or inflamed, the spray is often the kinder starting point because there is no mechanical contact at all.
