This eyeshadow base carries the trusted BDIH certification, which guarantees it meets strict standards for truly natural beauty. That means no synthetic dyes, fragrances, silicones, paraffins, or petroleum-based ingredients — only plant-based raw materials (where possible from organic farming), produced without animal testing and with environmentally responsible practices.

EFR rating: Bronze

This natural eyeliner is enriched with nourishing plant oils like jojoba and castor oil for smoother application. However, the inclusion of waxes and essential oil components raises concerns for use near the lid margin. It doesn’t meet TFOS-aligned criteria and is best used on the outer lash line. Rated Bronze for its overall clean formula but not ideal for the sensitive eye area.

    Q1. What is kajal and how does it differ from regular eyeliner?

    Kajal is a traditional kohl-style eyeliner with a soft, blendable texture designed for both the outer lash line and the waterline. It gives a smokier, more diffused look than a liquid liner.

    The pencil format is easy to control and reapply through the day.

    Waterline application with any eyeliner increases the risk of particles entering the tear film and depositing on lens surfaces, which causes end-of-day discomfort and contamination.

    If you wear lenses, keep kajal to the outer lash line and lower lash line rather than the waterline itself. On non-lens days, waterline use is a personal choice.

    Benecos is a natural cosmetics brand that avoids synthetic fragrances, parabens, and a range of commonly sensitising ingredients. Their products are assessed against the Eyehouse Eye Friendly Rating before being stocked in the range.

    A micellar water or oil-based remover on a cotton pad, held against the area for a few seconds before wiping. Kajal can migrate into the lash line during the day, so thorough removal each night matters, particularly for anyone with dry eye or blepharitis.

    Every three to four months. The soft tip picks up bacteria from the lid margin each time it is used. Sharpen before each application if using a sharpenable format.
