Dry eye relief bundle, your questions answered

Q1. Why combine a heat mask with eye drops?

They work on different parts of the problem. The heat mask softens the oils in your meibomian glands so they flow more freely, which improves the oily layer of your tear film. The drops add moisture to the watery layer.

Using both gives you immediate comfort from the drops and longer term improvement from the heat therapy.

Mask first, then drops afterwards. Heat loosens the oils, and the drops sit better on a warmer, more prepared eye surface.

Leave a few minutes between them.

Daily is ideal, particularly in the first few weeks. Seven to ten minutes over closed eyes at a temperature that feels warm, not hot.

Consistency is what produces results with heat therapy. Once or twice a week is unlikely to make a meaningful difference.

That is exactly the situation this bundle is designed for. Drops alone address the symptom. Heat therapy addresses one of the most common underlying causes, which is insufficient oil in the tear film.

If you have been on drops for months with limited improvement, adding heat is often the logical next step before exploring clinical treatment.

Remove lenses before the heat mask and before any drops. Reinsert once you are finished.

Check with your surgeon first. Heat therapy is often recommended post procedure but the timing and products need to be approved by whoever performed it.
